LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Middle Tennessee soccer players Shan Jones and Vanessa Mueggler were recently highlighted among the Top 20 Players to Watch in the Sun Belt by TopDrawerSoccer.com. The website listed the top 20 players in each conference across the country as well as an overall top 100 national ranking.

Jones was listed as the No. 5 player in the Sun Belt, third among the forwards. A two-time First Team All-Sun Belt choice, the junior from Y Felinheli, Wales, scored 22 goals in her first two seasons as a Blue Raider and added her first goal of 2010 in Sunday's matchup with Evansville.

Mueggler, a senior, garnered a No. 12 ranking among the league's top players, which was third among the midfielders. The Pincourt, Quebec, native, earned her first All-Sun Belt honor last fall after registering a career-best 10 goals to join Jones as double-digit scoring threats for the Middle Tennessee offensive attack. She currently paces the club this fall with three goals, including a pair in Friday's win at Alabama A&M.

Eight different schools were represented among the 20 Sun Belt players with UALR's Christina Veasley leading the pack. She was the lone SBC representative among the top 100, collecting a No. 84 ranking.

TopDrawerSoccer.com also plans to do a freshmen ranking, which will be updated weekly. The overall top 100 list will be updated on a weekly basis as well.

The Blue Raiders will return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday when they travel to Birmingham, Ala., to face UAB. Three Blazers (Marie Yempuku, Tiffani Turpin and Laura McCalla) were named among the top 20 players in Conference USA.
