MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee cross country continues it 2010 campaign on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m., as the squad will travel to the Moccasin Bend Race Course in Chattanooga, Tenn., to compete at the UTC PowerAde Invitational hosted by Chattanooga.
A fixture on the Blue Raider schedule, Dean Hayes has sent his runners to the flat fast Moccasin Bend layout twice a year for the past eight seasons. The course provides an excellent preparation environment for the larger races including next weekend's Vanderbilt Invitational, the Greater Louisville Classic and the Sun Belt Championships.
Men's runner Festus Chemaoi, winner of last Friday's Belmont Opener, took both of the team's 2009 contests at Moccasin Bend in times of 15:30 and 15:11 on the 5,000 meter course. Chris Mason placed eighth at the PowerAde Invitational finishing in a time of 16:12.
Freshman female Deanna Brasz was the top MT finisher at last Friday's opening meet. Brasz's time of 14:50.09 placed the Canadian 13th overall. Senior Marla Bailey came in second for Middle Tennessee, taking 24th overall in 15:15.86.
