JONESBORO, Ark. - The Middle Tennessee volleyball team notched its ninth consecutive victory on Sunday, sweeping Arkansas State 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-19) at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

"That was one of our best matches of the year," said head coach Matt Peck. "We played a very complete match and followed the game plan. Offensively, we were in system a lot, and we only had six unforced attack errors. It was a good win for us."

Izabela Kozon led the match in kills with 15 while hitting a blistering .481. The senior from Warsaw, Poland, now has 1,463 kills in her career, ascending to second all-time in the school history books.

Stacy Oladinni and Ashley Adams were also factors offensively, recording nine and eight kills, respectively. As a team, the Blue Raiders (12-4) posted 48 kills and outhit the Red Wolves .390 to .164.

Brynne Henderson led the team in digs with 15, and Angela Peyton chipped in 12. Middle Tennessee was also impressive at the net, led by Adams' five blocks.

The Blue Raiders utilized an impressive late run to win the opening stanza, 25-18. Middle Tennessee would take an early 6-2 lead thanks to a pair of Henderson service aces, but as was the case throughout much of the set, the Red Wolves seemed to have an answer for every MT run. However, Kozon and Adams, each of whom recorded four kills in the set, helped the Blue Raiders run off seven of the last nine points to take a 1-0 lead.

Middle Tennessee and Arkansas State battled back and forth for much of the second set, but the Blue Raiders ultimately pulled away to win, 25-18. After eight ties in the early goings, MT took the lead for good with a five-point run to go up 18-13, and the Red Wolves would never seriously challenge down the stretch as the Blue Raiders grabbed a 2-0 match lead. Kozon was a force to be reckoned with in the frame, posting seven kills.

Middle Tennessee put together a wire-to-wire third set victory, winning 25-19. The Blue Raider offense outhit ASU .423 to .158 in the frame, led by Adams and Kozon, who each tallied four kills.

Middle Tennessee will now head back to Murfreesboro for a three-match homestand beginning with FIU and Florida Atlantic next weekend.
