Women's golf finishes sixth at Susie Maxwell Berning Classic

NORMAN, Okla. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team finished play at the eight-team Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in sixth place after shooting a third round 23-over 311 at Jimmie Austin Golf Club on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

"I think we could have finished better," said head coach Chris Adams. "We have to get more consistency, and we still have a lot of work to do before next week's event. That said, Olivia played really well and had a good tournament."

Olivia Love, who posted the top Blue Raider finish in all three rounds, carded a four-over 76 to end the event in 11th place (out of 48) at eight-over.

Karisa Akin and Morgan Hale, who each had solid outings in the second round, both fired an eight-over 80 to finished tied for 26th and 34th, respectively.

Ashley Haggard was third among Blue Raiders, finishing tied for 28th after a third round six-over 78.

Stephanie Smith shot her best round of the tournament, rebounding with a five-over 77 to finish tied for 31st.

Middle Tennessee will now prepare for the USF/Waterlefe Classic in Bradenton, Fla. The two-day event is slated to begin on Oct. 4.
