Women's golf in third at Dale McNamara Invitational

Blue Raiders one stroke off the lead after one round of play

October 11, 2010 · Athletic Communications
TULSA, Okla. - In a field headlined by 11 teams ranked among the Golfstat.com Top 100, the Middle Tennessee women's golf team is currently third after an opening round 293 at the Dale McNamara Invitational at the Patriot Golf Club in Tulsa, Okla.

"Obviously, it's a great start for us," head coach Chris Adams said. "To put up a good number like that in a field like this is a great experience for us, but we still have two more rounds to go. Our team feels like this is a position we should be in, and it's a testament to their confidence. However, we still have work to do."

Ashley Haggard starred for the Blue Raiders, posting her second sub-70 round of the season with a three-under 69. The sophomore from Savannah, Tenn., is currently tied for third place in the 90-player field.

Karisa Akin and Morgan Hale, both All-Sun Belt honorees in the spring, carded one-over 73s to tie for 10th.

Olivia Love and Stephanie Smith each shot a six-over 78 to sit tied for 42nd.

Round two at the Dale McNamara Invitational will continue tomorrow. A recap will be available at GoBlueRaiders.com and www.Golfstat.com will provide live scoring.
