MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team will hit the road to Knoxville, Tenn., beginning Wednesday for the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals at the Knoxville Racquet Club. The event will be the final tournament on the Blue Raiders' fall schedule.
Only one Middle Tennessee player will participate in Wednesday's singles qualifying draw. Junior Alex Dachos will square off against Louisville's Sonia Bokhari at 11 a.m. If Dachos should be victorious, she would advance to second-round action against the winner of Riekie Honiball of Miami (Ohio) and Meredith Morrow of Kentucky. The second-round victor moves on to the main singles draw.
Once the qualifying flight is completed, all matches for the main singles draw will be determined with at least four Blue Raiders slated for contests beginning Thursday.
Juniors Taylor Coffey and Carla Nava are both scheduled to face qualifier winners in the round of 64. Classmate Marietta Bigus is pitted against ETSU's Kelly Holtzhausen, while sophomore Yuiri Nomoto is in position to face Kentucky's Misha Testerman.
Two Middle Tennessee doubles tandems are listed in Thursday's main draw. Nava and Nomoto will start the bracket against Tennessee's Whitney Wofford and Jennifer Meredith. Bigus and Coffey also will play in the flight, squaring off against ETSU's Holtzhausen and Karina Kedzo.
The single-elimination tournament runs through Monday with the championship matches.
