Dachos falls in qualifying singles match

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Alex Dachos was the lone member of the women's tennis team to compete Wednesday at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn., and the junior dropped a straight-set decision in qualifying singles.
Dachos fell 6-2, 7-5 to Louisville's Sonia Bokhari to be eliminated from advancing to the main singles draw.
The main singles bracket begins Thursday with three Blue Raiders slated for Round of 64 action. Junior Taylor Coffey will match up against Miami (Ohio)'s Katie Thome, who advanced through the two-round qualifying singles flight.
Classmate Marietta Bigus is pitted against ETSU's Kelly Holtzhausen, while sophomore Yuiri Nomoto will take on Misha Testerman of Kentucky.
Two Middle Tennessee sets of doubles will also compete beginning Thursday. Nomoto and junior Carla Nava square off against Tennessee's Whitney Wofford and Jennifer Meredith, while Bigus and Coffey will face ETSU's Holtzhausen and Karina Kedzo.
The single-elimination formatted tournament will run through Monday's championship matches.
