Blue Raiders in seventh after 36 holes

GUADALAJARA, Mexico - The Middle Tennessee men's golf team opened the spring season on Sunday at the Santa Anita/North Texas Classic. The Blue Raiders stand in seventh place after shooting a 597 on the par 72 course.

Houston, Indiana, and Southeastern Louisiana are tied for the tournament lead with a two-round total of 578, while Texas State is fourth with a 579 and Louisiana-Lafayette rounds out the top five with a 587.

Nick Bailes paced the Blue Raiders with a score of 146 to place 17th overall. Bailes fired a pair of 73s on the day.

Rick Cochran is in a tie for 23rd after a 149, including an even par 72 in the second round while Spencer Provow is tied for 33rd. Provow opened with a 75 before registering a 78 in the second round to finish with a 153.

Senior Josh Nelms and Derrick Bright are both tied for 38th with a 154. Nelms opened with a disappointing 81 then bounced back with a 73 in round two and Bright had an 80 to get things started before finishing with a 74.

The Blue Raiders will conclude the tournament on Monday with a shotgun start beginning at 7:30 PM.
