Three Blue Raiders in the top 30 after one round

October 29, 2010 · Athletic Communications
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team opened up play at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman Golf Course with a 31-over 319 to sit in 12th place in the 17-team field.

"We can certainly play better than we did today," head coach Chris Adams said. "We struggled a bit at the start, and we didn't help ourselves down the stretch. We still have two more rounds left, and I think we have the ability to dig ourselves out of this hole."

Morgan Hale, a 2010 All-Sun Belt selection, led the Blue Raiders with a six-over 78 and is currently tied for 23rd in the 90-player field.

Both Karisa Akin and Olivia Love finished the round one stroke back of Hale, and are tied for 29th at seven-over.

Olivia Love and Stephanie Smith are tied for 63rd and 69th, respectively, after shooting an 11-over 83 and a 12-over 84.

Steph Gough, who is competing in the event as an individual, is tied for 42nd after an opening round 8-over 80.

The second round of play will begin tomorrow. A daily recap will be available at GoBlueRaiders.com and live scoring will be provided by www.Golfstat.com.
