Blue Raiders begin play at Louisville Winter Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Middle Tennessee's Elliot Barnwell performed well on Day 1 at the Louisville Winter Invitational on Friday.

Barnwell won his opening match 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3 over host Louisville's Adam Donaldson. In quarterfinal action, Barnwell fell 6-3, 6-3 to Mauricio Ballivian of Drake.

Shawn Waters fell 6-4, 6-0 to Bryce Warren of Butler in his opening match. In consolation quarterfinals, Waters fell 6-1, 7-5 to Kentucky's Grand Roberts.

Kyle Wishing won his play-in match 6-2, 6-0 over Chicago State's Dave Regus. In his first round match, Wishing battled but fell 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 to Drake's Jonathan Hadash. Wishing then faced Armaan Choudhary of Chicago State in the consolation quarterfinals where he fell 6-3, 6-4.

Wishing paired with Chicago State's Viet Lam falling 8-2 to Butler's Chris Herron and Warren. Wishing and Lamb will play Drake's Robin Goodman and Jean Erasmus on Saturday.

Barnwell and Waters faced Butler's Steve McLoughlin and Lenz Theodor of Butler battling but falling 8-6. Waters and Barnwell will play the winner of Butler's Brandon Bayliss and Zach Ervin and Kentucky's Maks Gold and Grant Roberts on Saturday.
