Middle Tennessee's Manon Kruse Loses Re-Match to Vanderbilt's Sarah Riske

Nashville, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee tennis player Manon Kruse (9-1) lost her first match of the fall season in a re-match with No. 17th ranked Sarah Riske of Vanderbilt Sunday at the June Stewart Invitational.

Kruse took second place for the first time this fall when she lost 5-7, 6-4, 1-6 in Flight one to Riske. She had defeated Riske earlier in the fall to take the flight one singles at the Furman Fall Classic.

Middle Tennessee picked up three wins in the final day of action as sophomore Carien Venter took third place in flight three when she defeated Kentucky's Sarah Witten 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. Junior Tanja Buchheim took fifth place in flight six with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Purdue's Missy Wright and freshman Emily Vest was seventh in flight eight with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Marshall's Olivia Hall.
