Blue Raiders Fall to ISU, 5-2

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee dropped the doubles point and four singles matches in a 5-2 loss to Indiana State in women's tennis action Saturday in Mobile, Ala.

The Blue Raiders (6-8) and Sycamores played singles first because of the threat of rain, with ISU winning the top four matches.

Jennifer Migan defeated Marlene Chemin, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1, and Joanne Schickerling won 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 over Claudia Szabo. Sarah Galparoli outlasted Elvira Yusupova, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 3, and Fadzai Masiyazi defeated Ann-Kristin Siljestrom at No. 4, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3.

Middle Tennessee picked up wins at Nos. 5 and 6, both in straight sets.

Kelly Adams won 6-2, 7-5, over Marie Caujolle at No. 5, and Pooja Kommireddi made quick work of Imane Lahlou at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles the Sycamores won the top two outings to pick up the final point of the match.

Migan-Schickerling defeated Szabo-Chemin, 8-1, at No. 1, and Galparoli-Masiyazi won 9-7 over Adams-Siljestrom at No. 2. Kommireddi and Yusupova took care of Caujolle-Lahlou, 9-7, at No. 3 for Middle Tennessee.

Middle Tennessee takes on 75th-ranked South Alabama Sunday at 11 a.m. before returning home next weekend to face Louisville on March 25 at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
