SAN ANTONIO – Middle Tennessee freshman Ebony Rowe and sophomore Icelyn Elie were named to the All-UTSA Holiday Classic Team at the conclusion of the two-day tournament following a vote of each of the participating school’s head coaches.

The Blue Raider pair’s honors are the first of their respective careers and come on the heels of leading Middle Tennessee to the tournament title after posting a 2-0 record with wins over St. Bonaventure and Kansas State.

Rowe posted a pair of double-doubles in the two victories, the fourth and fifth of her young MT career, and averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. She led all Blue Raiders with 16 points and 11 rebounds against the Bonnies Monday then poured in 17 points and grabbed 10 caroms in Tuesday’s triumph versus the Wildcats.

Elie played her best in the second half of the win over Kansas State, tallying all 14 of her points after halftime. She was second on the team, behind Rowe, with five boards against St. Bonaventure.

The tournament was the first in-season event for Middle Tennessee since 2006 and it improved to 5-1 all-time during in-season tournaments under head coach Rick Insell.

The Blue Raiders enter the holiday season with a Sun Belt-best 9-3 record. Middle Tennessee will take a week off before returning to action Dec. 29 at SEC foe and current No. 11/11 Kentucky at 5 p.m. Central in Lexington, Ky. It will be the final non-conference game of the season for the Blue Raiders.
