Mueggler collects NSCAA Scholar All-America Team honor
Senior midfielder lands on Third Team
December 27, 2010 · Athletic CommunicationsKANSAS CITY, Kan. – Middle Tennessee senior Vanessa Mueggler was one of 35 overall recipients on the Scholar All-America Teams it was announced Monday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Mueggler earned a spot on the Third Team as one of five midfielders.
She earned a spot on the national team after receiving First Team All-South Region Scholar accolades. Other Blue Raiders on the region squads, collecting Honorable Mention honors, included seniors Emily Snowdon and Jaimee Cooper and junior Hope Suominen.
Mueggler, who also has garnered CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District IV Third Team accolades, was the lone Blue Raider represented on the NSCAA squads. She also is a three-time member of the Sun Belt’s Commissioner’s List for a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
On the field, Mueggler received All-Sun Belt First Team recognition after a career season in which she led Middle Tennessee with 12 goals, including four game winners, 31 points and 80 shots. She was one of five seniors who helped lead the Blue Raiders to their first Sun Belt Tournament title and subsequent NCAA Tournament berth, facing No. 15 Florida State in the opening round.
The Pincourt, Quebec, native also grabbed Oct. 12 Sun Belt Player of the Week accolades, the first honor of her career, after leading Middle Tennessee to a pair of wins over Florida Atlantic and FIU, who was previously unbeaten in conference action entering the match Oct. 10.
