MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Sophomore midfielder Emily Carter scored twice and freshman Lisa Langrish added a goal in a 3-0 Middle Tennessee victory Tuesday over Georgia State at the Blue Raider Soccer Field.

Carter netted her second two-goal game of the season, with the other coming September 25 against Murray State, also a 3-0 Blue Raider win.

The Blue Raiders got on the board early after their third corner kick in the opening 12 minutes of the half. A scramble ensued in front of the net, with Sheri Robbins and GSU goalie Jennifer Espinal both jumping for a lob pass near the goal. The ball bounced off Robbins and over to Carter, who placed it in the net for her seventh goal of the season.

The visiting Panthers had chances in the opening half to get on the board, taking six shots and forcing MT keeper Emily Shrum to make three saves in the half. But the Blue Raiders went to halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

Carter got her second goal of the match in the 60th minute when Jessica Northcutt crossed a ball into the box and Carter headed it into the back of the net for a 2-0 MT lead. Langrish made it 3-0 in the 83rd minute on an assist from Lindsey Bopp, Langrish's eighth goal of the season.

The Blue Raiders outshot the Panthers, 15-9, in the match, and took five corner kicks to GSU's two.

Bopp tallied her fourth assist of the season, and Northcutt had her second assist in two matches.

The Blue Raiders hit the road this weekend for their final two regular season matches, taking on Sun Belt foes South Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The conference tournament begins October 31 in Miami, Fla.
