MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After a few days off for the holiday the Blue Raiders have been preparing to play host to Tennessee State.
Middle Tennessee will host the Tigers at 7 p.m. in Murphy Center on Wednesday, Dec. 29. It is the first meeting between the two schools since 2006 in which Middle Tennessee won 67-56.
The Blue Raiders are looking to snap a four-game losing streak in their final non-conference game before Sun Belt action begins. Middle Tennessee will have one more non-conference game later in the season when they play at Houston Baptist.
R-sophomore Jason Jones is averaging 13 points and six rebounds in the last two games. He is also shooting 55 percent from the field during that span.
James Washington is averaging double figure scoring per game on the season while sophomore JT Sulton is averaging 9.2 points per game.
Defensively, Sulton leads the team in rebounds with five per game while Washington is averaging two steals per game.
The bench has also been performing well for the Blue Raiders as it is averaging 27 points and 17.7 rebounds per game.
After the game with the Tigers, Middle Tennessee will play three Sun Belt Conference games, two away from the friendly confines of Murphy Center, in seven days beginning with South Alabama on Jan. 2.
Chip Walters will have the call for the game with the Tigers and the game is set to tip at 7 p.m. at Murphy Center on Wednesday, Dec. 29.
