Blue Raiders Fall to Louisville 4-0
March 24, 2006 · MT Media RelationsLouisville's Courtney Moore got the Cardinals on the board early when she hit a solo homerun over the centerfield wall in the bottom of the first inning. Blue Raider pitcher Samantha Floyd also gave up two runs in the bottom of the second inning and was replaced by Trish White in the third inning.
In the fifth inning, Middle Tennessee's Shelby Stiner hit her fourth double of the season, with two outs, to spark a rally attempt for the Blue Raiders. However, Martha Davis popped up to the catcher to end the threat.
Moore struck again for the Cardinals when she hit a double to the centerfield wall with two outs. She scored when White gave up a double to Lacy Wood to score Moore. The Cardinals looked to add to their lead when Michelle Vasquez hit a rope to short stop but a diving play by Stiner and then a toss to Justine Cerda at first ended the inning for the Cardinals.
Floyd takes the loss in the game and falls to 0-2 on the season. White went four innings allowing one run on three hits. Muriel Ledbetter also had a hit for the Blue Raiders as she singled in the first inning.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Saturday in the second day of the Louisville Classic. The Blue Raiders face Eastern Michigan at 9 a.m. and No. 9 Michigan at 3 p.m.
