Women's Tennis Falls, 5-2

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee won a pair of singles matches but it was not enough, falling 5-2 to 69th-ranked Louisville Saturday morning at the Racquet Club of Murfreesboro.

The Blue Raiders (6-10) lost the doubles point and the top four singles matches.

Louisville (16-5) won the top two doubles matches and defaulted at No. 3 because of injury.

Robyn White and Suzanna Gracinin defeated Marlene Chemin and Claudia Szabo, 8-3, at No. 1, and Natalie Laszkowski and Bianca Gorbea won 8-5 over Kelly Adams and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom at No. 2. Middle Tennessee's Pooja Kommireddi and Elvira Yusupova won at No. 3 by default.

Gracinin defeated Yusupova, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3, and Laszkowski won 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 over Adams. White took care of Chemin at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2, and Gorbea won 7-6 (4), 6-2, at No. 2 over Szabo.

The Blue Raiders won the final two matches in pro sets.

Adams defeated Stephania Velazquez, 9-7, at No. 5, and Kommireddi won 8-0 over An Nguyen at No. 6.

Middle Tennessee heads to Arkansas-Little Rock next Friday and Arkansas State next Saturday, starting a four-match road swing. The Blue Raiders play their final regular season match at home on April 15 against Marshall.
