DENTON, Tex. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team registered a 36-hole score of 635 on Monday to stand in sixth place at the North Texas/UALR Invitational. The Blue Raiders struggled with a disappointing 322 in the opening round to fall behind early, then improved with a 313 in round two.
Sam Houston State leads after day one with a 615 followed by Arkansas-Little Rock with a 619. Lamar is third with a 623 and North Texas had a 624 to move into fourth place. Texas A&M Corpus Christi rounds out the top five with a 631.
Freshman Mallory Bishop led the Blue Raiders with a 153 to tie for fifth overall. Bishop opened with a 76 before tallying a 77 in round two.
Sophomore Taryn Durham had an uncanny 82 in the first round but came back strong during the second 18 holes with a team-best 75. Durham finished the first day with a 157 to tie for 14th.
Freshman Leigh Wilkins had a 162 to tie for 29th while Grace Holmes fired a 163 to tie for 32nd. Sophomore Jamey Dillard tied for 40th with a 165.
The Blue Raiders will play the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
