Women's golf team finishes seventh at UNT/UALR Golf Classic

DENTON, Tex. - Middle Tennessee shot a disappointing final round 326 to finish seventh at the women's North Texas/UALR Golf Classic on Tuesday. The Blue Raiders had a 54-hole score of 961.

Arkansas-Little Rock won the tournament with a 934, while Sam Houston State came in second with a 939. North Texas placed third with a 941 and Lamar was fourth with a score of 952. Oklahoma City rounded out the top five with a 954.

"It was a very frustrating day for our team," said Head Coach Rachael Short. "We just could not get anything going and left a lot of shots out on the course. We have one tournament left before the conference championships and we need to show a lot of improvement at our next tournament to give us momentum."

Freshman Mallory Bishop, despite a final round 81, led the Blue Raiders with a total score of 234 to finish tied for fifth. It marked Bishop's best finish as a collegian.

Taryn Durham had a 235 to place seventh while Grace Holmes tied for 36th after registering a 247. Jamey Dillard finished 39th with a 248 and freshman Leigh Wilkins completed the scoring with a 249 to come in 40th place.

The Blue Raiders will be off until traveling to Hattiesburg, Miss., on April 10-11 for the Lady Eagle Invitational.
