The Blue Raiders (6-11) played without freshman Kelly Adams, who did not make the trip after receiving treatment for a troublesome back earlier in the week. No. 1 player Marlene Chemin also had to withdraw from her match after winning the first set because of dehydration.

The homestanding Trojans received a default at No. 3 doubles and won at No. 2 to take the first point of the match.

UALR's Rosario Negrete and Bindiya Parekh defeated Pooja Kommireddi and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom, 8-4, at No. 2. Middle Tennessee's Chemin and Claudia Szabo won 8-7 (3) at No. 1 over Hollie Robinson and Laetitia Bourgeon.

In singles the Trojans won the top three matches and received a default at No. 6.

Hirdle lost the first set to Chemin, 6-7 (3), but the Blue Raider freshmen then withdrew with dehydration. Outi Jarvinen lost the first set to Szabo but came back to win, 1-6, 6-4, 10-4, at No. 2, and Parekh took care of Elvira Yusupova at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1.

Siljestrom defeated Ellie Vicary, 6-4, 6-7 (6), 10-4, at No. 4, and Kommireddi picked up her 23rd singles victory of the year with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0, triumph over Bourgeon at No. 5.

Middle Tennessee takes on Arkansas State at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Jonesboro, Ark., the second in a current four-match road swing.
