Tennis notches decisive victory over Morehead State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee cruised to a 7-0 win over Morehead State on Saturday afternoon at Nashboro Village to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Middle Tennessee began play with junior Matthew Langley and freshman Elliot Barnwell defeating MSU's Justin Harlow and David Clifford. Then senior Kyle Wishing and r-freshman Dimitri Pippos won the point for the team with their 8-2 win over Hugo Almont and Vlum.

Sophomore Shaun Waters and freshman Ben Davis rounded out doubles action with their 8-4 win over Bradley Bryan and Lovell Medcalf at No. 1 doubles.

Davis picked right up where doubles left off and defeated Nathan Marin easily, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles to put the Blue Raiders up 2-0 in the match.

Langley also cruised in his singles match winning 6-0, 6-1 over Bryan at No. 2 singles. Then Barnwell handed Middle Tennessee the match win when he defeated Clifford 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.

Rounding out play for the Blue Raiders, Waters, playing No. 1 singles, won his match 6-1, 7-5 over Harlow. Then Wishing defeated Vlum 6-1, 6-1 while Pippos won his match 6-1, 6-3, against Almonte.

The Blue Raiders will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Illinois for matches with Northwestern and Northern Illinois. Middle Tennessee will first face Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. on Friday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. Then the team travels to Dekalb, Ill., where it will play UNI at 4 p.m.
