MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team resumes its spring season at 4 p.m. Central Friday when it travels to Chattanooga, Tenn., to face the Chattanooga Lady Mocs.
"We have had a good, solid week of practice," head coach Melissa Schaub said. "Everyone is beginning to find their rhythm and hopefully that will translate into continued success during the match."
The Blue Raiders began the campaign last Friday with a 5-2 win at Belmont, giving Schaub her first career coaching victory. It marked the third consecutive season in which Middle Tennessee has opened at 1-0.
MT garnered triumphs in four of the six singles contests to clinch the match after it picked up the doubles point with a pair of wins. A young Blue Raider squad, consisting of four juniors, two sophomores and a freshman, comprise the roster.
Middle Tennessee earned a 6-1 victory over Chattanooga last spring, handing the Lady Mocs the defeat Feb. 5 at the Nashboro Village Indoor Courts in Nashville.
Chattanooga likewise owns a 1-0 record entering Friday's contest at the Hixson Racquet Club after also defeating Belmont last weekend. The Lady Mocs finished 2010 with a 9-13 record and return seven letterwinners and four starters.
