MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee track and field will conclude its 2011 indoor regular season, Saturday, as they play host to the MT Valentine Invitational at Murphy Center. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m., with field events and will conclude at 2:00 p.m., with the mile relay.

Saturday's meet is the remaining dress rehearsal for the Middle Tennessee athletes before they travel to Jonesboro, Ark., to take part in the 2011 Sun Belt Indoor Championships in two weeks. It will give those lower seeded individuals a chance a move up the conference ranks in order to compete in the faster heats at the conference championships.

"The higher you rank in the conference, the better preliminary heat you will be entered in at conference," head coach Dean Hayes said. "The better heat, the more likely you will make the finals and score for us."

Middle Tennessee enters the weekend holding the top conference mark in eight different events between both squads. With conference foes Troy and WKU to be present, it will give Blue Raider competitors the opportunity to battle their opposition to improve standings. Belmont, Milligan and TSU will also be present at the meet.

Two of MT's top distance runners, Justus David and Festus Chemaoi, will not be present as they are scheduled to compete at Grand Valley State in the GVSU Big Meet. This competition will feature strong fields in order to propel the duo up the NCAA rankings.
