Tennis falls 4-3 at Yale
Three freshmen record wins

The Blue Raiders lost the doubles point but had two very close matches in the process. At No. 1 doubles, sophomore Shaun Waters and freshman Ben Davis fell 9-7 to Marc Powers and Joel Samaha. Senior Kyle Wishing and junior Matthew Langley played Calvin Bennett and John Huang close but also fell by a score of 9-7. Freshmen Elliot Barnwell and Joseph Cohen lost 8-5 to Erik Blumenkranz and Daniel Hoffman at the No. 2 spot.
In singles play, Waters fell 6-2, 6-4 to Powers at No. 1 while Davis continued his strong play. Davis, who moved up to No. 2 for Yale, defeated Huang 7-6, 6-0.
Langley fell 6-4, 6-5 to Blumenkranz at No. 3 singles while r-freshman Dimitri Pippos lost his match 6-3, 6-4 to Samaha at No. 5.
Cohen dropped his first set 4-6 to Hoffman but rallied winning the next two 7-5, 6-3 to give the Blue Raiders another point.
Rounding out singles at the No. 6 position, Barnwell also dropped his first set by a slim score of 6-7 to Kyle Dawson. He then rallied winning the next two easily 6-3, 6-1 to take the win.
Middle Tennessee will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. when they face East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn.
