Women's Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee dropped the doubles point and the first three completed singles matches, falling to 55th-ranked Marshall, 4-0, Saturday morning at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.

The Blue Raiders (7-14) dropped their final two regular season matches but now prepare for the upcoming conference tournament.

Marshall won the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3.

Jessica Keener and Jeanne Schwartz defeated Pooja Kommireddi and Elvira Yusupova, 8-3 at No. 3 before Karolina Soor and Shannon Brown won 8-3 at No. 2 over Kelly Adams and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom.

In singles the Thundering Herd won matches at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 for the victory.

Lynzee Kever defeated Claudia Szabo, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1, and Keener won 6-1, 6-0, over Adams at No. 6. Kellei Schmitt's 6-1, 6-3, triumph over Marlene Chemin was the match clincher.

Middle Tennessee heads to the Sun Belt Championships, April 21-23, in Mobile, Ala. The tournament will take place at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts on the South Alabama campus and the Mobile Tennis Center.
