MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - For the first time in his career, senior Jason Millard has been named the Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Month. It marks the fifth different player to win the award for Middle Tennessee and the first since Kent Bulle in February 2010.
Millard led the Blue Raiders to an 11-shot victory at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate by blitzing the field with an 11-under par 205 to earn low medalist honors. Millard, who won by seven strokes, capped off the tournament with a school record final round of 63, which also went down as a new Magnolia Grove Crossing Course record. For his efforts, Golfweek.com named him the National Player of the Week.
Millard also turned in a strong showing at the USF Invitational to help guide Middle Tennessee to its second straight victory of the spring season. Millard, who currently leads the SBC with a 70.67 stroke average and is ranked 10th nationally, had a 1-under par 215 to tie for 16th in the 105 player field.
