Women's golf places ninth at Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - After posting their best round of the season on Sunday afternoon, the Middle Tennessee women's golf team shot a 14-over 310 in Monday's third round to finish ninth (of 17) at the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate at Forest Hills Golf Club (Par 72, 5963 yards) in Augusta, Ga.

"We have got to get better about avoiding the big numbers," head coach Chris Adams said. "We got ourselves into a bit of trouble today, and we couldn't climb out of it. But we'll have a quick turnaround this week, so we'll be looking to rebound next weekend."

Karisa Akin tied for the team lead in the third round, carding a four-over 76 en route to finishing tied for 20th (of 90) at nine-over.

Steph Gough rebounded from a pair of nine-over rounds on Sunday to shoot a 76 on Monday, ending the event tied for 68th at 22-over.

"Steph started off really well," Adams said. "I think the first three holes might be the most difficult on the course, and she went birdie-birdie-birdie. She didn't finish as strong as we would've liked, but it's good that she's starting to get some rounds under her belt, and hopefully she'll keep improving as we go on."

Ashley Haggard and Olivia Love each recorded a seven-over 79 on Monday, tying for 43rd and 58th, respectively, at 14-over and 20-over.

Morgan Hale got off to a tough start in the final round, ending with a 14-over 86 and tying for 48th at 17-over.

Middle Tennessee will now prepare for their second tournament in as many weeks next weekend at the John Kirk Panther Invitational in Stockbridge, Ga.
