At halftime of the Blue-White Spring Game, the athletic department announced that a new synthetic playing surface will be installed, replacing the type of artificial turf that Middle Tennessee football players have participated on since 1973.

The next decision to be made is the artistic design of the end zones. The Middle Tennessee athletic department is giving its fans the chance to vote on the new look through an online poll that will be featured on GoBlueRaiders.com for the next two weeks.

"Our players and coaches, as well as the entire athletics department, are excited about the new playing surface we will have in position for the 2006 football season," said Chris Massaro, Middle Tennessee Director of Athletics. "From the feedback we have received, I know our fans are excited, too, so we wanted to provide them an opportunity to vote on the four different designs that are being considered. The online voting at GoBlueRaiders.com will give them that opportunity and we hope they take advantage because their input is important."

The five different renderings of the design for the end zones and midfield will be displayed and when fans click on the respective choices a larger icon is available that allows them to view a larger version of the field. Fans are also encouraged to send in their own design to Mark Owens at owens@goblueraiders.com.

Online voting will take place for two weeks and then a story will follow informing the fans of the winning choice.
