MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis could only manage one win in doubles and two in singles to drop a 5-2 decision to visiting Memphis Sunday afternoon at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

"Another disappointing result," head coach Melissa Schaub said. "We have to believe we have a chance to win each time out."

The Blue Raiders' lone doubles victory came at the No. 2 slot, as junior Marietta Bigus and sophomore Lexi Brand posted an 8-6 decision over the Lady Tigers' Kathleen Hawkins and Mariya Slupska.

Middle Tennessee (5-7) tallied its two singles triumph at the No. 3 and 5 singles positions. At No. 3, Carla Nava won in a super tiebreaker third set 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 over Stefanie Mikesz.

Brand then earned the other win over Memphis (10-6), knocking off Hawkins at No. 5, 6-4, 6-2.

The Blue Raiders will return to action at 1 p.m. Friday when it plays host to Denver.
