Blue Raiders to close home stand with Austin Peay
Match set for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24
March 23, 2011 · MT Athletic CommunicationsThe Blue Raiders will begin play with Austin Peay at 2 p.m. at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center. Middle Tennessee is 6-8 on the season including 5-0 when playing at home.
Thursday's match will be slightly different than normal as the team will host a doubles tiebreak exhibition during the 10-minute break between doubles and singles play. Participating in the exhibition will be former Blue Raider doubles national champion Marco Born, Middle Tennessee men's basketball coach Kermit Davis, Middle Tennessee head women's basketball coach Rick Insell and Nashville television personality Joe Dubin and the exhibition is expected to last about 30 minutes.
Austin Peay is 9-4 on the season with Sean Bailey posting a 10-2 dual match record. Bailey is 10-1 at the No. 3 position this season. In doubles, Bailey has paired with Henrique Norbiato to post a 10-2 dual match record.
Newcomers continue to guide the Blue Raider arsenal. Freshman Ben Davis is 11-3 on the season including 9-1 at the No. 3 position. Freshman Elliot Barnwell has also performed well and is 8-6 in dual matches.
Davis has paired with sophomore Shaun Waters most of the season and the pair has posted a 7-5 record, all at the No. 1 position.
There is no charge for admission to home tennis matches at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center. Live stats may be found on goblueraiders.com.
