ATLANTA, Ga. - Cherice Robertson won the 100 meter hurdles for the second consecutive week to lead the Middle Tennessee track and field teams in a rainy day of competition at the 2011 Yellow Jacket Classic in Atlanta.
Robertson's time of 13.95 in the event was enough to give the senior her second victory in the event in as many weeks. Teammate Ann Dudley took fifth in 14.51.
"I was proud of Cherice getting the win," head coach Dean Hayes said. "It was nasty weather and we were not able to get all the events, but those that did run performed well."
Kiara Henry finished as the top collegiate in the long jump, leaping 19-8 (5.99m) in the win. Kortney Thurman came in fifth with a mark of 19-1.25 (5.82m). Henry also placed second in the 100-meter dash in 11.95.
Triple jumper France Makabu had a good day, taking a second place finish. A native of Paris, Makabu's mark of 40-2.25 (12.52m) was two inches shy of victory.

On the men's side, Steven Palmer was runner-up in the 400-meter dash and seventh in the 200 meters with respective times of 48.59 and 22.06. Kendall Bacchus ran fourth in the 200 in 21.78.
