Tennis preparing for DePaul, Sun Belt Shootout

First up will be No. 66 DePaul on Thursday, March 31 at 2 p.m. The team will honor its lone senior Kyle Wishing, a Murfreesboro native, prior to the start of the match. Free pizza will be available for all of those who attend.
Wishing is currently third on the team in singles victories. He defeated Austin Peay's Remi Calleja 7-5, 6-4 in a critical singles win as the Blue Raiders won the match 4-3. In arguably Wishing's best match of the season, he posted a thrilling straight-set victory at the six-slot over then No. 40 New Mexico, in a near 3-4 upset of the Lobos.
Freshman Ben Davis continues to be one of the most consistent performers for the Blue Raiders and is currently 12-3 in singles.
Freshman Elliot Barnwell has also be a key contributor posting a 9-6 singles record and is 7-3 at the No. 4 spot.
Then the Blue Raiders will have one day to prepare for the Sun Belt Shootout which will have five teams from the Sun Belt along with No. 66 DePaul and in-state foe Memphis. The tournament is set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 2 at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
Middle Tennessee will play in one of two early matches. The Blue Raiders will face Memphis at 9 a.m. with the winner advancing to the semifinals which will be played Saturday at 3 p.m.
There is no admission to the Sun Belt Shootout which will begin at 9 a.m. and run through 6 p.m. Saturday night. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with action beginning at 9 a.m.
There is no charge for admission to tennis matches at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center. There will be live scoring for all of Middle Tennessee's matches throughout the week. Results will be posted on goblueraiders.com when they become available.
