Blue Raiders Fall to ULL; No. 4 Seed in Sun Belt Tournament

Middle Tennessee fell to 19-40-1 and 6-9 in the Sun Belt. Louisiana-Lafayette improves to 45-10 and 12-3 in the Sun Belt.
The Blue Raiders, thanks to series wins over North Texas and Troy, earned the No. 4 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament which begins on Thursday May 11. Middle Tennessee will face No. 5 seed Troy at 12:30 p.m. Central.
Louisiana-Lafayette set the tone for the game when the Ragin Cajuns' posted five runs in the first inning. Samantha Floyd started the game and after giving up a homerun and a two RBI single she was replaced by Laura Moore. Holly Tankersley took Moore's offering over the centerfield wall for the fourth and fifth runs of the inning. The Ragin Cajuns added five more runs in the second inning.
Moore lasted two innings allowing seven runs on nine hits and struck out one. Sophomore hurler Ashley Katinas came into the game in the third inning. Louisiana-Lafayette scored one run on Katinas as she closed out the run-ruled game allowing one run on five hits and striking out one.
Floyd takes the loss in the game and falls to 2-5 on the season. Kristine Reed, Justine Cerda and Shelby Stiner also picked up hits in the game.
