MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Pitcher Caty Jutson allowed just two hits over the final 4.1 innings, but the damage was already done as the Blue Raiders fell to visiting Florida Atlantic 3-0 on Wednesday at Blue Raider Field
Jutson also struck out six batters on the day.
Cold-wet conditions threatened to stop play, but the teams battled through seven cold innings in the loss.
Primarily a pitcher's duel, the combo of starter Jordyn Fisherback and reliever Jutson held the Owls to just five hits and three runs.
FAU got on the board early with a run in the top of the first, and took control of the game with a two-run homer to left in the third.
Unfortunately for Middle Tennessee (10-21, 4-8 SBC), the chilly conditions had little effect on FAU pitcher Rose Gressley. Gressley allowed just one hit in the game.
The Blue Raiders will return to action on Saturday and Sunday in a conference series with South Alabama. Live audio, statistics will be available on GoBlueRaiders.com, as well as post-game coverage and interviews on Twitter.com/MT_Softball.
