Rowe earns Freshman All-American Team honor
First player in school history to receive accolade
April 1, 2011 · Athletic CommunicationsLOS ANGELES - Middle Tennessee women's basketball forward Ebony Rowe has been selected as a Freshman All-American by Full Court Press, a national online women's basketball publication. The organization listed Rowe as one of five players on its All-American Freshman Third Team.
Rowe finished her rookie campaign for the Blue Raiders as the team's leading scorer (17.1 ppg) and rebounder (10.1 rpg) in collecting Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and All-Sun Belt First Team honors. She was among the league's leaders in both categories, in addition to a 58.4 field goal percentage, as she helped lead Middle Tennessee back to the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season and 14th time overall.
The Lexington, Ky., native set a Sun Belt record with four Player of the Week honors as a freshman and established five new Blue Raider freshman class single-season records, including points and rebounds.
She joined senior Anne Marie Lanning as the only two players to start all 31 games, as Middle Tennessee posted a 23-8 record, including a 14-2 mark in Sun Belt action.
Rowe was featured by Full Court Press in an article written by Bob Corwin Jr. earlier in the season after he covered the team during December home games against No. 4/5 Xavier and James Madison.
Rowe becomes the first player in Blue Raider history to earn Freshman All-American accolades.
