Jaguar pitching stifles Blue Raiders in 6-0 loss

Drake, McNabb notch two hits each on the day

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's offense struggled against South Alabama's Dustin Crenshaw as the Jaguars took a 6-0 win on Saturday afternoon at Reese Smith Jr. Field.

Crenshaw worked his second complete game of the season improving to 5-0 and dropping his ERA to 3.38 on the season. Crenshaw had not allowed a walk in 53 innings of work before walking Middle Tennessee freshman Hank LaRue with two outs in the eighth.

Middle Tennessee had seven hits in the game with junior Justin Guidry recording the only hit for extra bases. Junior Matt Drake and sophomore Dain McNabb each had two hits on the day.

Sophomore Hunter Adkins took the loss on the mound falling to 0-5 on the season after he allowed four runs on four hits. Senior Hunter Dawson and r-sophomore Joey McClung worked 5.2 innings in relief allowing just two runs on six hits.

The Jaguars had nine hits on the day with Brad Hook leading the team with two hits. Nolan Earley and Logan Kirkland led the team in RBI with two each.

Earley singled to centerfield allowing Kirkland to score from second and put the first run on the board for the Jaguars, 1-0 top 1.

South Alabama added three runs on four hits in the fourth inning to take its lead out to four, 4-0.

In the sixth, USA's Kirkland hit a sac fly to left centerfield allowing Sorrels to score from third making it 5-0.

Middle Tennessee will play the final game of the series with South Alabama on Sunday, April 3 at 1 p.m.
