Men's 4x400 Meter relay team shines in Auburn

Fastest relay in five years

AUBURN, Ala. - Middle Tennessee's men 4x400 meter relay team placed third on Saturday to lead the teams at the Tiger Track Classic.

The team, comprising of Robert Carter, Steven Palmer, Roscoe Payne and All-American Noah Akwu, ran 3:11.25 and came in less than half a second behind the winning squad. It is expected to be one of the top 15 fastest in the NCAA East Region and is the fastest run in the program since 2006.

Festus Chemaoi ran well, taking seventh in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:25.64.

Josh Butler placed second in the triple jump, leaping 47-3.75 (14.42m). Teammate Soloman Atosona's mark of 44-5.25 (13.54m) in the event placed him 11th.

On the women's side, Amber Jackson ran well in the 400-meter dash, placing fourth in a time of 55.75.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Rosina Amenbede took fourth collegiately in 13.81. Cherice Robertson finished ninth in 14.28.

Kortney Thurman won the collegiate long jump, leaping 19-8 (5.99m). Robertson took second with a jump of 19-2.75 (5.86m).

Kiara Henry was five-hundreths of a second from setting a new personal best in the event, running 12.0. She placed sixth on the day.
