"We did not come out and play well today," head coach Melissa Schaub said. "We will have to focus better tomorrow to close the regular season strong and have some momentum heading into next week."
The two teams started with singles action due to limited courts being available at the new facility. It was decided as soon as one school reached the four points necessary to clinch the win, the match would be awarded to that team. The limited format resulted in a quick sweep of the Blue Raiders.
All four of the North Texas (8-11) points came via straight-set triumphs. The other two singles matches, at the No. 1 and 6 slots, did not finish and doubles was not played, either, hindering Middle Tennessee (7-9) from an attempted comeback.
The Blue Raiders will return to action at Noon Saturday when they face Troy in neutral-site action. The match, the final of the regular season, is slated to be played on North Texas' campus at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
