MOBILE, Ala. - Freshman Ben Davis has been named Sun Belt All-Conference as announced by the league office on Wednesday night prior to the start of the Sun Belt Championships on Thursday, April 21.

Davis, who arrived on campus in January, made the most of his first semester as a Blue Raider posting a 17-4 dual match singles record. The London, England, native won seven straight to open play with just one of those going the full three sets.

"Ben is a huge building block to help us rebuild the program and get back to competing in the NCAA Tournament year after year," head coach Jimmy Borendame said. "Ben is a hard worker and is a fighter battling through tough matches to win. He has performed very well for us this season and I look forward to seeing his success continue during the rest of his career at Middle Tennessee."

Davis has won 14 singles matches this season in straight sets and is currently on a five-match win streak.

In doubles, Davis has paired with sophomore Shaun Waters posting a 10-9 record all at the No. 1 position.

Davis and the Blue Raiders will open play at the 2011 Sun Belt Championships on Thursday, April 21 at 2 p.m. when they face UL-Lafayette.

Middle Tennessee and the Ragin' Cajuns met earlier this season with the Blue Raiders taking home a 4-3 win at the Sun Belt Shootout. The team lost the doubles point but strong performances from Shaun Waters, Ben Davis, Dimitri Pippos and Kyle Wishing, who each won in straight sets, handed Middle Tennessee the win.

There is no live scoring at the Sun Belt Championships. Results will be posted on goblueraiders.com as soon as they become available.
