MOBILE, Ala. - Middle Tennessee was unable to manage a point in its opening match of the Sun Belt Championships, dropping a 4-0 decision to Troy in women's tennis action at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.

"We are disappointed by the outcome certainly," head coach Melissa Schaub said. "It was a good season and we will now turn our attention to next year. We are excited about having everyone back to build on what we did this spring."

The No. 8-seed Trojans opened the contest by winning the doubles point with victories in the top-two positions. The top slot was the closest decision, as the Blue Raider tandem of Lexi Brand and Marietta Bigus fell 8-4 to Olfa Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega.

Troy (12-13) then clinched the overall match victory with triumphs at the No. 1, 3 and 5 singles slots. The No. 9-seeded Middle Tennessee (7-11) players dropping the decisions were Yuiri Nomoto, Bigus and Alex Dachos, respectively.

The setback ends the Blue Raiders' season, their first under the direction of Schaub. All seven members of the MT squad are due to come back next year as this year's team featured no seniors.
