MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee track and field teams have are set for an important weekend as they are set to run at the 2011 Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
"We highlight this meet on our regular season schedule," head coach Dean Hayes said. "It is good to run at a meet where you do not have to travel far. Hopefully this will help get us some good performances like we did a few weeks ago at Tennessee State's meet."
The Blue Raiders have had success in recent years when competing at Vandy Track Complex. At 2010 Vanderbilt Invitational, the two MT squads combined for 13 individual victories, 21 top-five finishes, and 28 season-best results.
Weather permitting, Hayes will use this meet to focus primarily on the events the athletes will run the event they are hoping to compete in at next month's conference championships.
"We really concentrate and get good performances in their specific event as opposed entering the athletes in multiple races," Hayes said.
The two-day meet will begin Friday evening with a selected field events and races. Full post-meet coverage will be available on GoBlueRaiders.com.
