Thurman wins at Penn Relays
Third MT winner in three years at prestigious meet

PHILADELPHIA - Middle Tennessee's Kortney Thurman won the college long jump at the 2011 Penn Relays on Thursday.
Thurman's winning leap of 20-3 (6.17m) came on her first attempt of the competition. Her victory gives Middle Tennessee an individual first-place finish at Penn for the past three years.
Teammate Nyeisha Wright took 11th in the long jump, leaping 18-10.75 (5.76m).
Cherice Robertson placed ninth in the high jump with a mark of 5-4.5 (1.64m).
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Amber Jackson, Wright, Kiara Henry and France Makabu placed 46th in the event in a time of 3:53.26.
Festus Chemaoi was the lone Blue Raider male to compete Thursday. Chemaoi took 11th in the 5,000 meters in a time of 14:39.79. As a sophomore, Chemaoi won the event in a MT record time of 14:17.79.
