June 7, 2011 · Athletic Communications
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - After leading the Middle Tennessee baseball team with a Sun Belt-best 16 home runs in 2011, Will Skinner earned the opportunity to continue his playing career, getting selected by the Atlanta Braves on day two of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft.

The Murfreesboro native and former Riverdale High School standout was the 25th pick of the 25th round, and he's the only Blue Raider to be selected in the draft thus far.

Skinner is coming off a campaign to remember for Middle Tennessee, picking up Second Team All-Sun Belt accolades and leading the team in runs scored, doubles, home runs, runs batted in, total bases and slugging percentage in just his second season wearing the blue and white.

The third and final day of the draft will begin on Wednesday at noon. Stay tuned to GoBlueRaiders.com for further news and updates.
