Millard adds another All-America accolade

Second honor this season for Murfreesboro native

NORMAN, Okla. -- Middle Tennessee senior golfer Jason Millard has been named a third team Division I Ping All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Millard, who earlier this week was tabbed a third-team honoree by Golfweek.com, is the first outright All-American at Middle Tennessee since Mike Whiteside and Ernie Adcock in 1968.

"This is yet another tremendous honor for Jason, our program, and the university," Blue Raider head coach Whit Turnbow said. "He had a brilliant career and played a big role in the elevation of our golf program. Jason showed he can compete with the very best nationally throughout his career. I am very proud of all his accomplishments along the way."

The Murfreesboro native enjoyed a stellar senior season with one win, eight top five finishes, and a stroke average of 70.6 which ranks among the best in the nation. Millard also set the school record earlier this year with a 63 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.

Along with All-American honors, Millard was first team all-conference, Division I Ping All-Region, and earned National Player of the Week honors in late February. Millard is the only Blue Raider golfer to appear in four NCAA Regionals and twice he made the National Championships.

Recently, Millard moved up in the World Amateur Golf Rankings at No. 42 and is the 28th American. He has also qualified for the 2011 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in Brandon, Oregon that will be played June 27-July 2.
