TORONTO - Former Middle Tennessee football defensive back Alex Suber, currently a member of the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, was tabbed the Gibson's Finest CFL Defensive Player of the Week for July 5. Each week, the top offensive, defensive, special teams and Canadian player are recognized for their performance by a panel of football experts.

Suber's accolade comes in the league's regular season first week. He grabbed a fourth quarter interception that resulted in a 66-yard touchdown for Winnipeg in its victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He also added six tackles.
