Players much sharper during Tuesday practice

STOCKSTILL THOUGHTS ON TUESDAY'S PRACTICE: "We had a much better practice than yesterday. Our tempo and effort was better, we were enthusiastic and played with confidence. They just had fun today. We told them to just come today and get better and they did."

LOGAN KILGORE ON TODAY'S PRACTICE: "We were a lot sharper. Coach (Willie) Simmons did not harp on the dropped balls from yesterday or the inconsistent execution. He just told us to come out with enthusiasm and get better. Everybody responded and we had a good day."

BIG DAY FOR BEYAH: During the one-on-one and then 7-on-7 drills, senior receiver Malcolm Beyah made his presence felt. Beyah had six receptions in the two drills with two covering over 40 yards and resulting in touchdowns. "When Malcolm is on his game and fighting, I will put him up against anybody," said Kilgore. "He has great hands, good speed, and can be a difference maker."

PRACTICE TIDBITS: During the 7-on-7 drill, Logan Kilgore completed 10 of 14 passes while Jeff Murphy connected on 10 of 13 ... Defensively during 7-on-7, Eric Russell, Leighton Gasque and Khari Burke had pass breakups while Russell also added an interception ... During the team portion, the Blue Raiders ran 39 plays and Kilgore competed 6 of 10 passes while Murphy was 8-for-14 ... Jared Bamber hauled in four receptions during team and Tavarres Jefferson had three grabs ... Defensively, Terrance Coleman registered a batted pass ... RB D.D. Kyles missed practice today with a hamstring injury and WR Shane Blissard did not finish practice due to a hamstring injury ... WR Jamal Gray did not practice today in order to fly home to take care of some personal business.

BRANTON, CARTER TO GRADUATE: Seniors Marquise Branton and SaCoby Carter will graduate this Saturday during the University's summer commencement. Branton, a running back from Seffner, Fla., earned his degree in Business Management, while Carter received his degree in Psychology. Carter is from Hawkinsville, Ga.

GENDREAU ON GOOD WORKS TEAM: Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) announced a record 132 nominees for the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® and Middle Tennessee's Alan Gendreau was picked as one of the nominees. The award recognizes the selfless contributions to volunteerism and community service made by college football student-athletes across the nation. From the nominees submitted by sports information directors across the nation on behalf of their schools, a special voting panel consisting of former Good Works Team® members and prominent college football media members will select two 11-player Good Works Teams® - one comprising of players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and another representing players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III, and the NAIA. The 22 student-athletes named to the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® will be announced in late September.

FAN DAY IS SUNDAY: Meet the 2011 Blue Raiders and coaches at Middle Tennessee's annual Football Fan Day, Sunday, August 14 from 2 PM - 4 PM at Murphy Center. FAMILY 4-PACK: When Middle Tennessee opens the 2011 home football season on September 10th against Georgia Tech, families should be well represented among the anticipated sell-out crowd with the debut of the Family-4-Pack. The "Family-4-Pack will consist of four reserved seat tickets, four hot dog vouchers, four Pepsi vouchers and four rally towels. The Family-4-Pack will sell for $100.
