Green leads Blue Raider golf on second day

ROCKY FACE, Ga. – Middle Tennessee was one shot off Friday’s opening-round pace despite a 1-over par 73 by senior Hunter Green Saturday to enter the final round in 12th place at the Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farms Golf Club in Rocky Face, Ga.

The Blue Raiders collectively struggled during the second round with no player shooting under par. Green’s 1-over total topped the squad as he rebounded for a 1-under par back nine after starting the day 2-over par on the front. He finished with four birdies on the day.

Brett Patterson added three birdies on his round, and added an eagle on the par 5, second hole, to finish the day with a 3-over par 75.

Each of the remaining Middle Tennessee players carded two birdies apiece but Jordan Jennings’ 2-over par 74 topped the trio. Lucas Armstrong fired a 4-over par 76, while Douglas Harris finished at 9-over par with an 81.

Auburn leads the team standings with a 9-under par 279 Saturday, taking a five-stroke advantage over Chattanooga, Clemson and Tennessee.

Georgia’s Bryden Macpherson and Chattanooga’s Benjamin Weilguni are in the clubhouse with the individual lead at 5-under par 139.

The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes Sunday on the par 72, 7,012-yard course.
