Davis to participate in American Cancer Society golf tournament

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Blue Raider men’s basketball head coach Kermit Davis steps off the court and onto the links to join forces with area college basketball coaches in the second annual Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee Golf Tournament hosted by the American Cancer Society. The tournament will be held at the Windtree Golf Club in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., on Friday with an 8:30 a.m. tee time.

“The Coaches vs. Cancer tournament is a great way to kick off the entire promotion of Coaches vs. Cancer in college basketball,” Davis said. “Like many of us, I’ve been touched very closely by cancer with my mom and dad going through breast cancer and melanoma the past few years, but both are doing great. The money from this tournament goes right to cancer research, which is very important in the daily fight to find a cure.”

The golf tournament includes contests in putting, longest drive, closest to pin and hole in one, in addition to a silent auction. The money raised at the tournament supports the American Cancer Society’s mission to create a world with less cancer and a world with more birthdays by helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back.
