FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee carded an impressive 285 in the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship Friday to grab a share of second place in the 14-team field. The annual event is hosted by Vanderbilt at the Legends Club (par 71).

Georgia Southern owns the overall lead after posting a 284 with the Blue Raiders and Oklahoma tied for second. Davidson College and Memphis shot even par 288 to tie for fourth.

“It’s a nice start, but we have a lot more golf to play,” said Head Coach Whit Turnbow. “I like this group. We are very consistent from top to bottom.”

Senior Hunter Green posted a 1-under par 70 and is in fifth place overall while teammate Lucas Armstrong fired a 71 to tie for 11th.

Sophomores Brett Patterson and Paul Sansom both turned in 72s and are tied for 20th. Redshirt freshman Andrew Cho, playing in his first collegiate event, had a 74 to tie for 38th.

The second round will get underway Saturday morning.
